Buffs and Nerfs!

the model for level 2 has been unwrapped and started to slowly get textured between playtesting the 1st level and tweaking the cards.

From multiple playtests things have already been slightly cahnged in the game like in the previous post. But now more changes have been applied to make the game harder.

It was previously very easy to get the last boss with high health and just kill it very easily, so a few cards have been modified to make the journey more difficult.

Firstly the event cards.

The main rule of an event card is that if there is a researcher on it, and you save them, they give you an extra life. Also you previously couldn't take any damage on events.

To make the events more of a hindrance, the two events which will be encountered no matter what route you end up taking have an additional penalty.

On Event cards 1 and 6, the zombies attempt to kill a researcher, and if they manage to do this, you fail the event and lose the opportunity to gain a life. BUT now if you kill the researcher before the zombie gets to them, and the zombie is still alive, you LOSE a life.

The 'Scared Researcher' card has also been altered slightly as it wasn't really having much of an effect previously. Now instead of firing a single bullet you instead fire TWO, making the card more of a risk.

The boss card has also been buffed as it was too hard for it to deal damage to you, so it has been lowered from a 5+ attack to a 4+ attack. this means the boss has a 50% chance to hit you when it gets in range.

The last change is to the games setup. If you draw a spider, bat or chainsaw zombie right at the start, it is VERY difficult to beat. Also if you draw a chamber increase very early it makes the game alot easier.

To counter this, 1 of the chamber increase cards and all the spider, bat and chainsaw zombie cards need to be removed from the deck at the start. The rest of the deck is then shuffled, and the top 10 cards are dealt ot one side, then the bullet, bats, spider and chainsaw zombies are added back into the deck and are shuffled well. Finally the 10 cards put to one side are placed ontop of the deck, then the game can begin.

What this does is it buries the tough cards into the main deck and makes sure that a handfull of the cards at the top are 100% not the hardest encounters.

Phew alot to write...but now i'll continue testing and see how it works out :D

To Be Continued...
